Visit Athletic.net Track for detailed RHS track team schedules, meet results and records and other useful information. This site has team results for Roosevelt boys from the past 3 years, and will have our results following each meet. It is a relatively new site and other teams have not been consistent in entering marks, but the way the Kingco league is handling stats this year will result in the site having fairly comprehensive marks for all teams in the league. KingcoTrack Meets
Last week, a number of athletes competed in the KingCo varsity and JV meets. In addition to Kalliy and Andrew, Matthew Gross (3200m, HJ), Daniel Dorres (HJ), and Brian Hutchinson (SP, Dis) participated in the varsity meet. Athletes posting PRs at the JV meet included 400m runners, Adrian Chu, Corey Scott, and Maurya Mamidala. Freshmen Hart Hornor and Erik Strandoo PRed in the 3200m. Natnael Mekuria had PRs in the 800 and 1600 while Daniel Swanson tied my sophomore PR in the 1600m (mile for me) and established his own PR by running a time of 4:36! Congratulations to all the athletes this year. It's just a bit disappointing to know that when track season ends, the warmer weather is just returning. You can keep up with the HS, college, and professional track events though by going to flotrack.com, runnerspace.com, or usatf.org. It should be an exciting season.
Parent volunteers need for KingCo 5/13/09
We all have a good time and enjoy watching the athletes perform.
If interested, please contact Coach Neff.
Congratulations
The tracks season is going very well with lots of fantastic times and distances being posted. Congratulations to the placers at the Eastlake Invitational: Kalliy Ceesay, 2nd in the long jump; Matt Gross, 7th in the high jump; and Brian Hutchinson, 7th in the shot put.
Track Practice during Spring Break
During spring break, March 30 - April 3, boys track team practices will be at the school, 9-11 am, each day.Volunteers needed
RHS will be "host" for upcoming meets April 16th at Rainier Beach, and April 30th at Mercer Island High School.Coach Neff is in need of some parent volunteers who can arrive by 3:45 and commit to staying until 6:30. Rainier Beach has electronic timing so timers will mostly be backup, and good practice for future meets.
We will also need some helpers to assist the people running the the field events.
Please check your calendars and if you can assist at either of those meets, please let Coach Neff know.
New Track Team Members Welcome

If you are like to run and have fun, join the guys and gals on the Roughrider track team.Track is a co-ed, no cut sport and team membership is open to all students who meet the standard athletic participation requirements.

Husky Classic
This Saturday you will have a chance to see some of the premier collegiate T & F athletes at the Husky Classic held at the Dempsey Indoor Track. One interesting person in particular (of many stellar athletes)is Oklahoma freshman, German Fernandez. At the California HS State T & F meet in June, German completed one of those incredible distance doubles winning the 1600m in 4:00.29 and 2 hours later winning the 3200m in 8:34. Last fall, he was in the running for the NCAA XC championships before he dropped out with an injury. The start list has not been released, but you can bet there will be one or two UW members of the Women's NCAA XC national championship team participating. The meet will likely feature many who competed in the U.S. Olympic trials as well as the Olympics in the throws, jumps, sprints and distances. It will be a great way to kick-off mid-winter break. For details, go to: http:// gohuskies.cstv.com/sports/c-track/wash-c-track-body.html

Roosevelt Athletic Boosters Auction and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
This is a final invitation to the Roosevelt Athletic Boosters Auction and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony starting at 5:30pm this Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Don James Center in Husky Stadium. Reservations are no longer required and you can pay at the door. Parking is free and you can drive right into the stadium and park in the E10 lot or behind the stadium near the Nordstrom Tennis Center and park in the E-9 lot.We did a wonderful job of procuring items and have parent volunteers working at the venue. Thanks to everyone who has procured and donated their time and money.
Each team is required to take on a job at the auction and our job this year is to sell raffle tickets. The boys will be the ones to sell the tickets. A parent is needed to help when cash is exchanged (instead of just using an auction #).
We have two time slots, 6:30-7:00 and 7:00-7:30. We can use a total of 4-6 boys and 2-3 adults. We can use the same people for both time slots . . . which makes sense to me. The boys will receive a sub sandwich and soda for their time.
The report time is around 6:25 near the check-in table. If they have a XC or track t-shirt with RHS on it, they should wear it, otherwise, green and gold are the colors of the night.
Coach Neff has ordered new uniforms and warm-up tops for the boys. Should be here by the end of March.
